After Five: New Year, new venue
Columbus Post staff report
Columbus welcomed a new entertainment venue
on New Year's Eve. After Five Restaurant and Bar is a source for
celebration.
Patrons, members of the over-21 crowd, had multiple reasons to
be in a party mood. During the festivities, champagne bubbles flowed
freely
at the stroke of midnight to usher in January 1, 2008.
Adults in attendance sipped champagne as they brought in 2008 and
spent the early hours of the New Year on the dance floor.
The restaurant and entertainment setting is the result of owners
Michael Wiley and Cameron Jackson putting their resources toward
bringing a
full-service restaurant and bar into play for members of the over-21population.
"
It was my vision to start an upscale restaurant and Cameron (Jackson)
takes care of marketing," said Wiley, a former Buckeye and Dallas
Cowboy.
While the restaurant has been operating for lunch and dinner for
more than a month, those who attended the beginning-of-the-year celebration
were part of the official launch of After Five Restaurant and Bar
at
482 S. Front Street.
An ideal place to go for lunch or to unwind at the end of the day,
After Five opened its doors officially on December 31, 2007.
Located in the former Lotus Restaurant in the Brewery District, the
venue, which opens at 11 a.m. daily for lunch, mixes sports and entertainment
to create an atmosphere that delivers good times, fun and camaraderie
all in one location.
To entertain patrons, the restaurant regularly features live bands
during happy hour, Monday-Friday, 3-8 p.m.
Call the restaurant at 614-222-0755 for details about scheduling
private parties and celebrations.
The coming months hold unseen possibilities for one of Columbus'
newest - After Five.
